Advance Purchase - Alice’s Drive feature documentary
“Alice’s Drive” is the feature length documentary of this epic centennial road trip made by Alice Ramsey in 1909 and then again 100 years later with Emily Anderson and Christie Catania at the wheel in June of 2009. In addition to the first-hand account of this amazing road trip, the film explores the often unexplored relationship between women and automobiles over the course of the last 100 years and how the automobile helped women step away from being perceived solely as a domestic cornerstone in American society and into hard-working, voting citizens in a vastly new America.
The filmmakers would like to express that this film is in progress and the themes may change slightly. However, the very nature of a documentary is that stories happen and are created out of real life events. They are also interested in exploring how the young generation respond to the 1909 Maxwell DA (an ancient car in most peoples’ eyes) and their impression of Emily’s drive across America. What does it mean to rarely hear about women in history like Alice Ramsey? How does the younger generation look at the future by seeing a slice of the past through Alice’s Drive/Emily’s Drive and what’s in store for the future of transportation? And much much more…
Alice’s Drive is being produced and directed by Emily’s youngest brother Bengt Anderson (LiveFeed Films), a seasoned television producer/director and in association with GriffisArt - Shoot. Edit. Post.
