I guess we really did it !

I just watched the YouTube video made by Team Sager titled: “Alice’s(Emily’s) Drive.” (click on the title: I guess we really did it - to see the video)

For those of us who did this journey, this is a tear jerker !….. be sure to check this video out…..Brian did an exceptional job putting together how the last two days of the trip unfolded. He caught the girls driving in to San Rafael on Wed. and then driving the last 20 miles to the Golden Gate and into San Francisco on Thursday July 9, 2009…….great coverage, and I didn’t even know his camera was running. Guess I was a bit brain dead by that time…..Thanks Sagers….it was great having you join us……

  4. Indeed, a tear jerker. Inexplicably, there are just some sights and words that prompt instinctively joyful responses, and the chronicling of this epic journey has consistently evoked a little blubbering at my keyboard. Having crossed the San Rafael Bridge many times, it’s just an amazing sight to see Babbs crossing it! Seeing Emily driving Babbs on the “back streets” leading up to the Golden Gate Bridge is an equally marvelous sight. I guess that all of us who had all our fingers and toes crossed for both the car and the team can now un-cross them — did you hear the huge collective sigh of relief from all of us as you drove onto Chrissy Field? I remember returning home from a safari in Botswana and not being able to find the words to convey to others what such an experience is like. Emily — I loved your presentation at the National Automobile Museum but I have been empathizing with you because I can’t imagine trying to respond to constant demands upon you to spontaneously find the words to properly frame your experiences along the way during the achievement of SUCH an accomplishment. As I said in my earlier comment, [for a marvelous month in 2009] we were **ALL** in that vehicle with you (and Alice), and [still] we are overcome with pride for the team and awe in the wonder of it all. This blog has been a wonderful opportunity for everyone to reflect upon that pride and awe. Congratulations to all of you from all of us.

  5. Having seen the video, I can now breathe a sigh of relief and joy that it’s officially over, and all is well. I’m a little miffed that I didn’t get any champagne, so I’ll hoist a glass to you all from home.

    Cheers!

  14. To Emily (Alice) and the entire Team,

As one of the participants in the Model-T cross country centennial run ( June 14 - July 14, New York to Seattle) I can certainly can relate to your emotions upon completion of such a memorable event. As seen on the uTube final video, we (drivers) cannot believe it is all over and want to just keep on going, even given the hot, cold, wind, rain, and mechanical troubles. I congratulate you on your success and give much credit to any woman who can handle a big brass era car as you did competently. Maybe we can meet sometime ere in New England on a Gas & Brass tour. Be well and continued successes,
