We moved on to Rochelle, IL and awaited the arrival of the Maxwell, Rich, Tim and Barb.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel we met a wonderful couple, Marianne and Steve that decided to meet up with us during their own cross country drive.
We were treated to another wonderful reception and contrary to Alice’s experience in Rochelle 100 years ago, we had a wonderful spread of food.
As per Ken Alberts, the Rochelle, IL city manager, June 17th was declared a day of celebration in honor of the Centennial Drive of the First Woman to Drive Across America . Thank you to Ross for making this reception happen along with Abrahams for giving the whole team a large discount on our meal.
Once again we met amazing people and are talking about meeting up with Redbird Express, the National Hobo King to do this trip again next June on the rails!
We are excited to move on tomorrow in the Maxwell

As I unpack today my thoughts are on you, the Maxwell and the weather. Again I wish all of you happy and safe traveling.

What a fantastic team you are!! Joe and I had a blast getting to travel with you from Rochelle to Clinton today. Team doesn’t describe your group and it’s all out effort to make this happen. You and your extended family are some of the most wonderful people we’ve had the chance to ride along with. It was an pleasure and honor to be included. The good Lord’s blessings on you all as you continue west. We’ll be following along as your story continues to unfold. God’s speed, good weather and no more semi trucks behind you…..grin

What a great bunch, everybody smiling. That’s the way the whole world should be. We had some great conversation & diner with everybody especially Tim. Even tho he was asleep on his feet from keeping “BABBS” running. We hope you have a super trouble free trip although it wouldn’t be a adventure without a few problems. Hope to see you guys in the future. Thanks for every thing.
Steve & Marianne
PS: Kermit warm up the pots just in case. I hope it’s in vain.
