On the road again.

Posted on Jun 23rd, 2009 at 9:59 pm by team

After a few restful and fun days in Omaha, we are back on the road.  The clouds were dark in the morning, but we took the top down since we were headed into blue skies!  We did catch a little sprinkle, but we got out of it quite quickly.

We had a great caravan with the Rambler, the Spyker, and the Maxwell.    We were excited to have two riders in the Maxwell; Susan and Ginny.  This was a birthday ride  for both Susan and Ginny! We had a wonderful time with them.  It is so great to meet all of these strong amazing women!

After the haul to Omaha, today seemed short.  The route was beautiful , the sun was scorching, the ice cream was good and it was great to meet the family of our MASTER mechanic/support team, Tim and Barb Simonsma!

Susan and Ginny left us after the Dairy Queen stop in Central City and Barb and Cecily jumped in.  Aside from a fuel line check during the last five miles and minor transmission irregularities it was smooth sailing!

When we arrived in Grand Island, NE we were greeted by many wonderful people along with a news crew. Emily was live on the Grand Island news!  Thank you to Tricia Beem for coordinating our Grand Island reception and sending us away with beautiful poems and other Grand Island gear.

At the reception we met Bob and Lennie Stubblefield.   Bob and Lennie gave us vintage Lincoln Highway cans of water and gave us directions to the section of the Lincoln Highway, in Shelton, NE where the original Lincoln Highway bricks are still intact!  Having just spoken to Tom Knight about this construction and looking at his pictures from this project, we are excited to drive through that area on our way to Ogallala.  Thank you Bob and Lennie!

  1. We enjoyed driving with you from the Frank House in Kearney to the lunch stop in Cozad in our Model T. The round trip for us was 180 miles. Hope the latest engine problem is not serious, wish I could have been of more help.
